That’s the complete system I use to catch AI mistakes before they cost me any real time, whether I’m working in ChatGPT or Claude. It’s not complicated, but it does take turning each piece into a habit.

Component 1 — Spot It
“Before I use this, walk me through anything in your answer you’re least confident about, and tell me specifically what I should double check before I rely on it.”
Use for: catching a mistake before it ever leaves your screen, not after
Component 2 — Verify It
“Here’s the answer you gave me: [paste the answer]. Before I use this, what’s the fastest way for me to confirm [the specific date, number, name, or fact] against a source I already have?”
Use for: knowing which answers are worth a thirty second check
Component 3 — Name It
“The [specific part, a date, a number, a name, or a section] in your answer doesn’t look right to me, here’s why: [your reasoning or what you know that contradicts it]. Can you take another look at just that part?”
Use for: getting a fast, accurate fix instead of a long back and forth
Component 4 — Feed It
“Here’s something you didn’t know when you gave me that answer: [the missing context]. Given that, how does your answer change, and what would you have done differently if I’d told you upfront?”
Use for: solving the actual root cause, not just the symptom
Component 5 — Save It
“I’ve corrected you on [the type of mistake, a date format, a preference, a recurring detail] more than once. Going forward in this conversation, please remember: [the standing context or preference] so I don’t have to repeat it.”
Use for: never making the same correction twice
